Red Velvet Cake (Improved)
A new recipe I created that moves away from the traditional recipe and improves density and moistness from other recipes found online.
===== Ingredients =====
-320g cake flour
-400g sugar
-270g buttermilk
-1tbsp white vinegar
-20g cocoa powder
-2tsp vanilla
-6g salt
-5g baking soda
-1 stick room temp butter
-40g vegetable shortening
-2 whole eggs, room temp
-1 yolk, room temp
-red food coloring
===== Instructions =====
1. Cream together butter and sugar. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl before adding to butter mixture.
2. Add buttermilk, vinegar, vanilla, and shortening to batter and combine.
3. Bake in two greased 8" cake pans for 30-35 minutes at 350F.
